What is High Density Polyethylene?

Polyethylene is the preferred type of thermoplastic in various products. Polyethylene, which is widely used in daily life and industry, is extremely durable and resistant to chemicals. It is used briefly as PE in the plastics industry. Polyethylene is divided into two classes as low and high according to its density.

Polyethylene is a type of thermoplast that is extremely durable and resistant to chemicals. Polyethylene is a hard, durable, durable material that can absorb very little water. Polyethylene, which has a wide usage area in daily life, is divided into two groups as high density and low density.

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Properties
High density polyethylene (HDPE) is a material derived from petroleum. Its English equivalent is High Density Polyetylene” word group. High-density polyethylene is more resistant to chemicals than other polyethylene. High density polyethylene is impact resistant. This type of thermoplastic has the feature of being easy to produce.

Density of high density polyethylene (HDPE) has values varying between 0.9040 and 0.970 g/cm3. Its molecular structure is different from low density polyethylene. It is highly resistant to water and chemicals. However, it is not as resistant to light and outdoor conditions as LDPE. HDPE is lighter than water. It has high impact and tensile strength. Its temperature resistance is above 100 degrees.

HDPE is highly resistant to aging and corrosion. Since the stress crack and crack propagation strength are high, impact accidents are avoided with minimum damage. Because it is a flexible material, it is easy and durable even under the worst working conditions. High-density polyethylene has self-lubricating properties.

High density polyethylene is a suitable material for many forming methods such as extrusion, injection, powder coating, film extrusion and rotational molding. High density polyethylene is very suitable for electrical applications.

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Usage Areas
High-density polyethylene is commonly used in industry and manufacturing. HDPE is used in the manufacture of pressure pipes, gas distribution pipes, irrigation distribution network pipes, bottles, cans, barrels, white goods, machine parts, toys, household goods, packaging film, lamination, electrical and electronic goods. Due to its water resistance, high density polyethylene material is also used in the construction of boats and warehouses.
