What are the Plastic Recycling Stages?

There are some steps necessary to ensure the recycling of plastics. These stages are briefly as follows;
Cutting and Breaking the Plastic
Waste plastics separated by type are broken down in crushing machines. These parts are called dandruff.
Plastic Washing and Drying
The semi-finished product, which has become bran, is first washed in washing pools in order to obtain quality products and not to waste. Then, in typical industrial dryers, each plastic is dehumidified according to its type.

Melting and Granulating Process
The process of transporting plastics to the squeezing machine or to the desired location is done by spirals. The separated plastics are melted and fused at the appropriate temperature in agromel machines according to their usage areas. They are then cooled and granulated.
However, before these stages, plastic wastes must be properly separated from foreign objects according to the product type. Large contaminants can be removed manually on the sorting table. Waste plastics that need to be washed are dried after being washed in appropriate washing facilities.
The washing process is usually done on dirty plastic products, washing may not be done on clean plastics. Waste plastic products to be processed must be crushed in accordance with granule extrusion. In addition, if desired, plastic wastes can be separated into colors among their own kind. In order for the granule extrusion to work efficiently, the hole diameter of the crusher sieve must be 8 mm. Light and heavy plastics need to be separated by flotation and the plastics need to be dried until the moisture content is less than 1%.

What Can Be Recovered From Plastic Recycling?
Plastic recycling is very important and at the same time valuable. Because, with recycled plastic; A seating group for 6 people can be easily made from 1050 recycled plastic trays. If a 2.5 liter plastic bottle is recycled and used in production, 60 watts of electrical energy for 6 hours can be saved. If 25 2 liter beverage bottles are recycled, a plastic sweater can be obtained from this material.

Plastic Recycling Stages
Recycling companies provide services for the recycling of plastic waste. There are various steps and types of recycling processes.

Collection of Plastics
Plastic bags, plastic bottles, packaging plastics and plastic materials are thrown away after use. Discarded plastics are separated and included in the recycling process. At the same time, users are collected in containers reserved for recycling and recycled.

Classification of Plastics
After the plastics are collected, the classification process takes place. Different kinds of plastics are sorted by machines. These machines are used to separate and recognize plastics. The most recycled plastics are PET (polyethylene terephthalate), PP (polypropylene), HDPE (high density polyethylene) and PVC (polyvinyl chloride).

Shredding of Plastics
Plastics classified according to their types are divided into small pieces for easier processing and use. Waste plastics are shredded in crushing machines. Shrinking plastics is done by means of crushers, grinders, shredders and crushers. These pieces are called bran.

Cleaning Plastics
In order to obtain a higher quality product from the plastic materials that have been turned into bran and not to waste, it should be freed from materials such as glue, labels and dirt. In wash pools, materials are sprayed with hot water to remove their dirt and labels. In this way, the products are purified from dirt and labels. After the cleaning process, these materials are kept at the appropriate temperature in the dryers. Depending on the type of plastic, its moisture is removed.

Melting the Plastic
After the shredding, cleaning and drying processes, the melting processes of the plastics are carried out. Plastics are fused by melting with the appropriate temperature in the machines according to their usage areas. After this process, it is cooled and turned into granules. This substance could then be re-manufactured as plastic.
